I am so grateful for my teachers!
First of all I ask my fellow teachers to research their own piano teacher lineage. It may surprise you. This page is not about me tooting my own horn, calling attention to my teacher lineages that include well known and influential musicians. Rather, my lineage of musician-teachers fills me with a great sense of responsibility to my students to provide the best music lessons at the piano I can.
If you can play the piano, or any other instrument please be sure and THANK your teacher! It is wonderful what can be passed down generation to generation concerning the art of making music at the piano. Gratitude also goes to my very first piano teacher, Mary Elizabeth Land, of Jacksonville, Florida. Her faith in me, her patience, and her dedication to the art of music was so very influential in my youth. I also want to thank my grandmother, Grace Marcellus. Her spontaneity and joie de vivre as church organist greatly influenced me. My uncle, John Marcellus, trombonist extraordinaire, is a living example of being in love with music and one of the most influential trombone players in the world.
The first and foremost things my teachers and family have all provided me with, is an unerring love of music! Being a musician, making it an essential part of your life that never leaves you. Always coaxing you forward to give unceasingly with the love of the heart the best of yourself as music.
KEY: Below in the lineage charts, the mark ">" equals one generation. The mark "+" equals five generations. Images below courtesy of my private collection, Wikipedia or personages own websites.
